Aidan Shaw is a love interest of Carrie Bradshaw.

He is first introduced when Carrie and Stanford Blatch spotted an ad for his furniture in the paper. After his dog Pete hit on Carrie, they went out on a date. It was during that first date that he told her that smoking was a deal breaker for him, resulting in her lying about giving it up. When he caught her smoking during their second date, Carrie promised to give it up. He then began to romance her before their relationship picked up with him introducing her to his parents. However their first relationship ended when she confesses to sleeping with Mr. Big.

After the breakup, he began seeing a woman named Susan, something Carrie learns in "Cock a Doodle Do!". He returns to Carrie's life in "Ghost Town" when it is revealed that he opened a bar with Steve Brady.

The second time they dated, he proposed to Carrie in Season 4, to which she says yes. They later break up due to Carrie's inability to commit and Aidan´s mistrust.

Sometime after his relationship with Carrie, Carrie bumps into Aidan in "To Market, to Market" and learns that he married a furniture designer named Kathy. She also learns that he has a baby named Tate, who he likes to call Tater.

In Sex and the City 2, Aidan and Carrie share dinner in Abu Dhabi and a kiss.

Years later, Carrie learns in "Sex and the City 2" that he has 2 other children: Homer and Wyatt.

And Just Like That...[]

He and Carrie reunite in "February 14th". After the evening begins with Carrie going to the wrong restaurant, they reconnect. At the end of the evening, he refuses to go upstairs to her apartment causing them to go to a hotel. A month passes by and in "A Hundred Years Ago", he reveals that he has chickens. When Carrie learns that her friend Che is renting out their place as an Air Bnb, Carrie rents it out for her and Aidan to spend time in. As guest's at Che's they go kitchen utensil shopping which they leave behind for Che.

In "There Goes the Neighborhood" Carrie has returned from visiting him at his farm house and meeting his son Wyatt. After Aidan exchanges conversation with the doorman, Che receives notice for the building about exceeding the 30-day guest limit, causing Carrie to decide to sell her apartment. While looking at new places, she is asked to meet his ex-wife Kathy for coffee as the woman doesn't want Carrie to use their sons in a new book.

In "The Last Supper Part One: Appetizer" he and Carrie head to Coney Island to meet up with Steve Brady outside his new business. Now that Carrie is moving out of her place, she decides to hold a farewell dinner with all her friends. Aidan refuses to come to the party but wishes her luck. He is then called by Kathy to return home to Virginia when Wyatt is in an accident.

In "The Last Supper Part Two: Entrée", it is revealed that Wyatt's injuries were serious. He returns to New York after her dinner party and tells her that he wasn't planning on coming back to the city to be there for his sons. They decide to put their relationship on hold for five years until Wyatt reaches adulthood.
